Jewelry engraving is commonly done by one of two methods - hand engraving or machine engraving. Hand engraving is done by professional engravers with a tool similar to a chisel. It requires extensive practice and produces a wide variety of script types (fonts) in great detail. Machine engraving, also typically done by professionals is accomplished with the aid of a mechanical engraving machine.
